CFP: “Hypotheses” – Monthly art history symposia.

CALL FOR PAPERS

HYPOTHESES – 2014-2015 SEASON

In collaboration with the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts

Hypotheses is an Art History symposium series, organized by and for graduate students from Quebec universities.  Its goal is to promote and disseminate emerging research in the discipline. Symposia are held monthly on Wednesdays from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Salon des Amis of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. The program, first developed in the Department of Art History at the University of Montreal in 2011, is now open to all.  Hypotheses encourages discussion and debate between young researchers across institutional boundaries, acts as a platform for discussion and reflection, and encourages cross-fertilization of ideas between academia, the museum community, and the public at large.

We are pleased to invite your participation in the next round of symposia (2014-2015).  To this end, we welcome proposals for a 20 to 30-minute presentation by Friday, May 30, 2014.  Please complete the attached application form and include a separate file that identifies your name, university affiliation, research supervisor, and thesis or dissertation topic.

Your presentation might consist of a case study, a theoretical or methodological question, or an aspect of your research topic that would lend itself well to discussion with the public. We encourage proposals in French and in English, as well as those from postdoctoral researchers or students who have deposited their dissertation/ thesis within the twelve-month period prior to submission of this proposal.
