School of Graduate Studies announces changes to Concordia Stand-Out Graduate Research Award

[The following is from an email from Jordan Carey.]

This biannual competition is valued at $1,000 and recognises the exceptional research projects that have been released to the public by current graduate students in all disciplines at both the Master’s and Doctoral levels.

Beginning with the March 2017 competition, the School of Graduate Studies will be doubling the number of awards per year by aligning the Concordia Stand-Out Graduate Research Award with two key axes of the Strategic Research Plan: the Person and Society; and Technology, Industry and the Environment.  This structure will affirm the link between graduate students and the research mission of the university.  In each competition (March 15 and September 15), the School of Graduate Studies will award two Concordia Stand-Out Graduate Research Awards; one falling in the “Person and Society” category and the other in the “Technology, Industry and the Environment” category.

However, we add an eligibility condition:  Applicants to this competition must have applied to the Étudiants-chercheurs étoiles award, presented by the three Fonds de recherche du Québec to recognise student researchers in training.  Support will be provided to applicants of the Étudiants-chercheurs étoiles award and it will include assistance with the translation of the application into French, if necessary.

A recipient of the Étudiants-chercheurs étoiles award will receive by the School of Graduate Studies an additional top-up of $500, independent of the Stand-out award competition.
