PhD Candidate Theo Stojanov is part of the round-table Relocation, Media Industries, and City Branding, published in Mediapolis: A Journal of Cities and Culture. This round-table builds on work of urban media studies to asks this question: how do cities market themselves to companies or individuals for permanent relocation? The contributors ask both how cities mediate themselves in order to attract such new residents and how media industries themselves use cities in their recruiting.
The series of articles covers a wide variety of subjects and examples, such as Los Angeles’s new landscape of mobile television production, the arrival of the game industry in Montréal, or The Florida Project and Disney’s labor negotiations (and many more!).
You can find the articles written by Theo here (“Lofts, Eats, and Montréal’s Game Industry”, February 21) and here (“Headhunters and Funmakers: Game Industry Recruiting à Montréal”, March 5), as well as the other parts of the series here.
