CFP: “Sexed Religion” Concordia Graduate Journal of Religion and Culture

Submission Deadline: August 1st

Concordia’s Graduate Journal of Religion and Culture (JRC) is seeking articles and book reviews submissions for its 2015-2016 edition.

The edition is tentatively titled “Sexed Religion: Exploring Religious constructs of Gender and Sexuality” and we will be accepting a broad range of topics for consideration, both within and outside of the field of religion, that deal with sex and gender.

“Submission Guidelines: 2015-2016

General Guidelines 

The JRC will consider all articles and book reviews which conform to these guidelines and reserves the right to reject papers which do not conform to one or more of these guidelines. Work submitted must be original, and unpublished elsewhere.

How to Submit 

If you are interested in submitting an article to this CFP, please visit www.jrc-concordia.ca/submit. Fill out the appropriate information and attach your paper to the message. Hit “Send” when you are ready to submit.

For book reviews, please send a brief bio along with the title of the book and the name of the publisher. If you do not have a copy of the book, we will endeavor to find a review copy for you.

If you are having trouble with the submission form, you can send your paper in an email attachment to jrc.concordia@gmail.com. Should you choose to do so, you must include your name and contact information in the body of the email.

Length 

Articles should be 10-25 pages in length, double-spaced with standardized margins and font size. This includes endnotes and bibliography.

Book reviews should be 750-1000 words in length.

If your paper greatly exceeds or fails to meet these requirements, it will not be read by our editorial staff.

Citations 

Papers must use endnotes for citations and contain a bibliography which includes all works cited. The format of bibliographical entries and citations should conform to the Chicago Manual of Style.

For example: Smith, John. Name of Book. City: Publisher, 2015.

Biblical passages, along with references to and excerpts from other primary sources, holy books and their commentaries, may use parenthetical citations.

For example: “In the beginning, there was the Word” (John 1:1).

If you choose to use parenthetical citations, please ensure that you include the version, edition, translation, and all other pertinent remarks in an endnote and / or bibliography.

File Types and Name 

All submissions must be in .doc, .docx or .odt. All other file types will be rejected before they are reviewed.

Please label your submission file so that it includes your last name and title (or part of the title) of the paper or the book you are reviewing.
