Second Annual M.A. Film Studies Symposium

The CGFSSA is proud to present the Second Annual M.A. Film Studies Symposium on Saturday, January 26th, 2:00PM to 6:00 PM, where ten current MA students will present an ongoing project in a casual and fun atmosphere! Here is the full program:

Jesse Hoffman – “Bela Balazs and the Crisis of Film Theory”

Bridget Deer – “Restoring the Experience of Metropolis

Jesse Balzer – “Jackie Chan,  Independent Distributors, and Crossover Stardom”

Juan Llamas Rodriguez – “Informal Film Distribution and the Politics of Genre”

Alyssa Beaton – “Vococentrism in Caroline Martel’s The Phantom of the Operator

The symposium will be taking place on the third floor of Burritoville, 2055 Bishop St. Tea and snacks will be provided courtesy of the CGFSSA. As well, Burritoville will be serving excellent drinks and vegetarian Mexican fare downstairs.

Everyone is invited to attend! Please come and support your fellow students in a fun and casual atmosphere. It’s a great opportunity to share our work, get feedback, and become familiar with what your peers are up to.
