Every week, we hear about exciting events taking place in Montreal, and sometimes, it can be hard to keep them all in order. To help, we put together this list of events, screenings, talks, colloquiums, and deadlines that are happening his week, February 12-18, in Montreal.

Kosher Love Screening (Feb 12, 7pm)
This week sees the World Premiere of Kosher Love, a documentary examining love and relationships in the Orthodox Jewish world. Following the screening at the Oscar Peterson Concert Hall, there will be a special Q&A with the producer, director and film subjects. The Same Difference & Pariah Cinema Politica screening (Feb 13, 7pm)
Cinema Politica Concordia is having its first documentary and fiction double bill, this Monday, February 13 at 7pm. The screening will feature the Montreal premiere of Nneka Onuorah’s The Same Difference, a documentary looking into black lesbian communities in the United States, followed by Dee Rees’s Pariah, a fiction film following a young black woman as she embraces her lesbian identity.
Dead Ringers Screening at Bar Le Ritz (Feb 13, 8pm)
Head to Bar Le Ritz on Monday, February 13 at 8pm, to see this 35mm presentation of David Cronenberg’s gloriously strange Dead Ringers, starring Jeremy Irons as a pair of sinister twins with sinister tools, and Geneviève Bujold as the actress who, as Criterion says in their description of the film, “challenges their eerie bond.”
Ubisoft 3D Technical Presentation (Feb 14, 12pm)
Interested in animation or gaming technologies? Then check out this event, which looks at animation technologies that were developed during the past decade at Ubisoft. Head to the District 3 Innovation Centre in the Faubourg Building on February 14, 12pm.
Artist Talk: Nurit Bar-Shai (Feb 14, 5pm)
What better way to participate in Valentine’s Day than attending an artist talk! Multimedia artist Nurit Bar-Shai will talk about her artwork practice, which uses biological systems. All are welcome to attend the event, which will take place at the Milieux Institute for Arts, Culture and Technology in the EV Building at Concordia, February 14, 5-7pm.
19th FSAC Grad Colloquium (Feb 15-18)
This week, the 19th annual FSAC Grad Colloquium will take place, February 15-18, 2017 at the University of Montréal. This year’s Colloquium sees five presentations by students from Concordia. For more info, check out the colloquium schedule below (click to enlarge).
Brian Price Film Colloquium Series talk (Feb 17, 4pm)
This week, Brian Price (University of Toronto) will be giving the second Film Colloquium Series talk of 2017, “Regret and Remake.” The talk, which will include “a consideration of Tay Garnett’s 1946 adaptation of James Cain’s The Postman Always Rings Twice”, will take place on February 17, 4pm, EV 6.720.

DEADLINE: “Rough Cuts//Short Takes” Symposium (Feb 17, 5pm)
This is the last week to get in your 100-word abstracts so you can participate in the CGFSSA’s annual Symposium, Rough Cuts // Short Takes. More info can be found here, but make sure to get your abstracts in by 5pm on February 17!
